Simon Massey is a qualified solicitor with over 20 years’ experience in the legal sector, including corporate practice within national and international law firms in London and Glasgow. He read History at the University of Cambridge before qualifying into corporate law.

 

Having drafted and negotiated complex transactional documentation in high-pressure environments, Simon experienced first-hand the commercial realities of modern legal practice — including the time intensity, margin pressures and execution risk inherent in manual drafting processes.

 

While working within a leading international firm, he led the development and automation of core corporate precedents, combining deep drafting expertise with structured automation design. This work demonstrated that, when implemented properly, automation can materially enhance efficiency, consistency and margin performance — without compromising legal nuance. However, combined legal, drafting and automation knowhow was needed.

 

BrightDraft was established in 2020 to provide law firms and in-house legal teams with that combined capability — bridging legal expertise and structured automation delivery through its Smart Drafting Framework  (Evaluate → Automate → Evolve).
